A sell out!!
What a night!!
Over 400 people, masked and unmasked danced the night away at the Awakenings Ball. The guests were welcomed by the Horsham Pipe Band and walked into the Horsham Town Hall that was decorated in the theme with a hauntingly beautiful mask filling the back of the stage and each table featuring stunning centerpieces made by University of Ballarat students in the Art Splash program under the guidance of artists Nikki Clarke and Ingrid Wimbury.
The dancefloor was full the moment that Don Papst commenced playing some old fashioned tunes with Jan and James calling the dances. Plenty of grace and poise exhibited as the couples (and singles) moved to the beat.
Joanne Zielinska and Scott Kenney wowed the crowd with their sensational expressive ballet piece performed to KD Laing’s Hallelujah plus the Jive dance performed to “We love to Boogie” showing that wheelchairs are no barrier to dance!
Then Claymore hit the stage for the fourth year in a row and had the place rocking, dancing and grooving for the rest of the night. Again the wheelchair mosh pit was a site to behold and the karaoke kings who had their 5 seconds of fame with William’s microphone sang beautifully!
Thanks to the Ball Committee – Suzy Shaw, Liz Blake, Anne Page, Jan Morris, Jenny Payne, the tech crew, Don Papst, Claymore, Horsham Pipe Band, James Henwood and Jan Morris for leading the dances, Horsham Lions Club at the Bar, Uniting Church ladies for the catering, all the volunteers and our wonderful sponsors for making this such a memorable night.
