Behind Awakenings are many dedicated, enthusiastic individuals who work in a voluntary capacity to support Awakenings. In 2001, three volunteers were recognised with a Tattersall's Award for Enterprise and Achievement, a wonderful accolade to all the volunteers in the International Year of Volunteers. Read below for more information.
Contact Us if you are interested in becoming a volunteer or contributing to the festival in any way. Awakenings is always looking for people to help out.
Tattersalls gives most generously to many charities and other community projects, and for some years now, they have been awarding the sum of $15,000 to the work of ‘unsung heroes’ on a monthly basis around Australia.
Two Thousand and one was the year of the volunteer, and our Awakenings Festival provides a great vehicle for volunteers to pitch in and make it happen. It is with heartfelt pride, that we note that three of our Awakenings volunteers jointly won for Awakenings $15,000 for the month of July 2001, and were awarded $5000 between themselves for their efforts.
On Thursday 27th September 2001, a small team of Awakenings workers traveled to Melbourne for the Annual Tattersalls presentations, at which all of the monthly winners over the past year were present from right round Australia.
Our winners were ..........
Christopher (Stoph) Pilmore
Shirley Flack
Tim Bachelor (Batch)
